About

Welcome to the Three Cheeses Food Blog! I’m Joni, the principal author, cook, and photographer of the blog. I currently live in Sydney, NSW, Australia, though I originally come from the small town of Revelstoke, BC, Canada. A mountain girl by birth, I now enjoy a lovely life of beaches, sunshine, and BBQs—truly paradise! (And no, there’s no shrimp on the barbie. Australians call them prawns…)

The Three Cheeses is a hobby food blog, where I get to write, photograph, and share my love of cooking. I love food (what food blogger doesn’t?), and there’s always room in the world for more of it. The focus of this blog is to bring you easy, delicious, healthy, and budget-friendly dishes. A fair few of them are comfort food, some are my new experiments or inventions, and some are just staples that everyone should know how to cook!

The bottom line is that food is meant to be enjoyed and shared with friends and loved ones. It should feed your body, mind, and soul, and be a source of pleasure and comfort. I wish I could say that I only buy organic and free-range and ethically; truth to tell, I do my best, but being a poor university graduate (ha) with three hungry boys for roommates, the budget only allows for so much. Fortunately, buying “right” is easier than it used to be.

This blog has evolved from what it originally was. The Three Cheeses was chosen as a name because it stood for myself and two of my besties—Alaina and Deanne. The three of us have been great friends since day one of university in Vancouver, Canada—and you guessed it! We all adore cheese. So somewhere between “the three stooges” and “the big cheese,” we found our niche. Today though, the blog is my domain, though our friendship and love for food has transcended even the Pacific Ocean!

I hope you enjoy the blog, and please sign up to the mailing list, or join us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter!

The Three Cheeses are (above) Joni Morris, Alaina Thebault, and Deanne Beattie, three great girlfriends who share a passion for food and good company. Alaina, Deanne, and Joni met on their first day at Simon Fraser University in 2005, and were fast friends within mere hours. Since then, their friendship has evolved and seen many things: weddings, late night paper writing and exam studying, travel, relationships, jobs and lack thereof, fun times on the town, pajama parties and movie nights, and everything in between.
